A great deal of research went into the design of the building to provide a period piece that matched the client’s expectations. The chosen historical form was backed up by meticulous detailing to match and a high level of finishes on the external fabric. Despite its size, the building has an enviably low energy use due to high levels of insulation and the use of triple glazing. A complex roof arrangement allowed the building to be broken down into a series of complementary components which allowed us to provide attractive elevations to every aspect.
