Dwellings At Port, Inver, Co. Donegal
This site provided a unique challenge. A full storey height change in levels, not only from front to back but from end to end of a site that lay only a few metres from the sea. The temptation to provide the ubiquitous stone cottages or their modern equivalent was strong as there in lay a safe option. However, the footprints for individual houses and therefore the accommodation would be small. The terraced and turned design made maximum use of the views, provided economy of both construction and running costs, produced maximum floor space while closely following the site contours.
